Submerged Vegetation (aquatic Vegetation) with abundant nutritions is a kind of biotic resource, but its utilization is limited due to its drying problem. In this study, drying properties and technologies have been investigated using the submerged Vegetation (potamogeton pectinatics in Wuliangsuhai Lake) as the test materials. In natural drying condition, the comparative tests were carried out by the means of different processing technologies, obtained the relationship between the processing methods of expelling water, spraying potassium carbonate as well as cutting into pieces and drying velocity. The tests based on the uniform design experimentation were performed in a drying device in which the influence of the medium temperature, the wind speed as well as the carrying capacity per unit area on drying velocity and energy consumption rate has been investigated. A Mathematical model was established by regressing the test results. With single-factor analysis and double factor-analysis mathods based on the model, the influence of each factor was investigated and the optimum process parameters were achieved by using nonlinear parameter optimization. Furthermore, the problem of excessive sodium sulfate content in aquatic vegetation was studied as well. The result shows that the ash content and edible property were improved by rolling squeezing the sunken Vegetation. The results obtained in this study has established the foundation for the further research and provided a basis on real production and drying machinery design.
