Based on previous studies, fermentation of high-temperature composting of cow manure mixed with wood bits and some other materials was carried out and its decompose index was studied. Seed germination and field experiment were also carried evaluate the compost manures. The results were as follow.(1) The ratio of fermenting material had a great influence on fermention. The compost temperature was higher and the time to reach the high temperature was shorter in cow manure with wood bits than any other materials.(2) DC, NH4-N, NH4-N/NO3-N, DOC/TON (End/Begining) could be good index of cow composting. These indexes value include DC<0.36% or DC (End/Begining) < 0.32,NH4-N < 400mgKg-1 (N>0.6%, Org-N/TN>90%), NH4-N/NO3-N<0.25, DOC/TON (End/Begining) <0.31.(3) Cow compost could promote the growth of young rye grass plant ang increase the yield of oil rapeseeds. Compost with wood bits could increase the germination of rye grass by 20%. Both the compost with 60%cow manure +35%N-wood bits and the compost with 90% cow manure +5% rice grain shell could incrase the yield of oil rapeseeds nearly by 30%. Nitrogen use efficiency by rye grass plant was higher in the compost of 60% cow manure +35% N-wood bits than other compost materials average.(4) In terms of samples collected from different positions of the compost, it was found that samples above ventilating ditch had higher pH, EC and NH4-N. Air-dry of the samples led to decreased TN, NH4-N and EC and increase pH.
