For reducing the cultivating periods, realizing seedling production of large quantity and exploring rooting mechanism about Picea crassifolia,the cutting propagation technique ,rooting mechanism and anatomy of Picea crassifolia have been studied. ⑴The study of cutting propagation technique shows:①in the aspect of hormone,IBA is the best to stimulate rooting,NAA and IAA are at middle,ABT1 and CK(water) are worst.②for IBA concentration,100ppm is the best,50 and 150ppm at the middle, 0 and 200ppm are the worst.③the survival rate of cuttings are different with mother trees ages.The survival rate of cuttings for mother trees at 2 to 4 years are the highest,their rooting time is the earliest,but they can not be used for large quantity seedling production because of too small tree size.The survival rate and the cutting yield are higher when their mother trees are at age of 6 to 8 years. It is the worst when mother trees are at 12 year old. ④the survival rate of cuttings is highest and the roots become corps when cuttings are cultivated in forest soil,the roots of cuttings are slender and fragile when the substrate is sand+lichen and sand+coal ash;the sand substrate is the worst.⑤the optimum soaking time is 4h when 100ppm IBA is used to treat cuttings.⑥it has no difference about rooting rate for cutting in greenhouse or in field covered with plastic film.Therefore,it is the best to select cuttings from 6 to 8 year old mother trees,soaking in 100ppm IBA for 4h and raising in forest soil.⑵Result of rooting mechanism research:①there are positive correlation between IAA,GA,KT,IAA/ABA,IAA/KT and the rooting rate, negative correlation between ABA and rooting rate.②it has no correlation between hydroxybenzene compound and rooting rate.③there are positive correlation betweem C,C/N and rooting rate,negative correlation between N and rooting rate.⑶anatomy research shows:①there are more pitch paths in the cortexes of hard stem than that of epicormic stem.②the pitch paths in the most outer layer xylems of hard stem occupy over 95% of total xylem.But the same ones in epicormic stem are fewer,and the pitch cavities in epicormic stem are smaller.
