The diseases and insect pests and weeds of cotton have seriously restricted to increase the yield and quality of cotton. The key to control the diseases and insect pests weeds of cotton is to use scientific methods to diagnose, prevent and cure. The aim to develop "the Diagnoses, Prevention and Cure Expert System for Diseases and Insect Pests and Weeds of Cotton" is to timely and exactly diagnose the diseases and insect pests and weeds of cotton during cotton growth and development, and make an effective solution for prevention and cure.This article firstly introduces the general design thought for the Web-based Diagnoses, Prevention and Cure Expert System for Diseases and Insect Pests and Weeds of Cotton. And then it summarily sums up the knowledge and research achievement of the diagnoses, prevention and cure for cotton diseases and insect pests in Hunan province; based on this, establish the decision modules for this expert system. Lastly, the expert system is built to employ "Browser/Web Server/DBMS" three-hierarchy architecture network model, and to adopt fuzzy production rule. It satisfactorily solves the complexity problem in cotton diseases and insect pests.The knowledge rule establishment, which is vital for expert system decision veracity, reliability and practicability, is the most important step in developing expert system based on ES shell. Thus, the process from the knowledge collection, database design to knowledge rule establishment is particularly discussed.
