| As the major economic crop in the city of Handan, cotton has been planted over 1 million mu per year, mainly by means of one cropping, this manuscript examined the current conditions and the general applications of multi-cropping of cotton in the Handan city.In contrast to single cropping, multi-cropping makes the best of labors, the soils and other resources like heat and light. It is essential for making farmers richer, gaining more economic interests and sustaining cotton planting.Farmers in Handan have made creative contributions in this respect, making it fully compatible to multi-crop cotton in their areas.There are many types of multiple cropping systems distributing widely in HanDan country in a small proportion. Most of farmers choose the type of planting that wheat formula cotton and twain ripe of oil and cotton which needs less investment and has stabilization benefit. Some farmers who have strong capability of market vendition, choose the type of planting that cotton formula melon and fruit or vegetable which needs more investment, has more risk and lager benefit. The mostly reasons that there no skilled skill, the planting cotton system of muti-ripe has great investment and project and has risk of market , service of technique and message of market which offered by department of agriculture extending has no promise function, are affecting extending the planting cotton system of mutiripe.Farmers in Handan are in urgent needs to have access to cotton multi-cropping techniques and market information, which otherwise had made many past endeavors unsuccessful. Making cotton multi-cropped in Handan is of general public interests. The successful transition from single cropping to multi-cropping can be achieved only when the government begins to put more investments on the building of the agricultural extension troops , on carrying out the rural educations and trainings, and on promoting the research upon and the disseminations of the multi-cropping techniques.
