The characteristics of morphology,physiology,biochemical and yield of 15 Yunjie(E.sativa Mill)varieties in seedling stage,bud stage and flowering stage were studied under water-stress by the pot experiment and tube cultivation experiment. The drought-resistance of Yunjie was comprehensively evaluated by using grey related analytic method .The results are followings: 1. Water-stress can increase root dry weight and root length of Yunjie. Root dry weight and root length were enhanced by 3.00% ~102.6%,17.99% ~119.57%,7.50% ~43.78% and 5.24% ~106.33%,19.38 ~67.87%,5.19~28.68% in bud stage,flowering stage and harvest stage respectively under water stress. The increase of root dry weight and root length to regard overdrawing the yield as cost, but it had the fact that the more root dry weight ,the less decrease extent of yield. For example : under the water-stress in seedling stage, the increase of root dry weight was Longxi Yunjie (102.60%)> Shangyi Yunjie(47.83%)> Jingyuan Yunjie (40.09%)>Machang Yunjie(36.11%)respectively compared to the CK, but the yield decrease of Yunjie was Longxi Yunjie (16.62%)in seedling stage > in florescence; on seed number per pod was: stress in florescence > in bud stage > in seedling stage; on 1000-seed weight was: stress in florescence > in bud stage > in seedling stage. 6. The drought resistance of 15 Yunjie cultivars were evaluated comprehensively by relation grade analysis. The results indicated that Dingxi Yunjie,Longxi Yunjie and Huining Yunjie were the cultivars with strong drought resistance in seeding stage; but Zhouni Yunjie and Machang Yunjie were poor. In bud stage: the drought resistance of Dingxi Yunjie, Longxi Yunjie, Huining Yunjie and Shangyi Yunjie were strong , Dongjiao Yunjie, Machang Yunjie and Shangdu Yunjie were the poor cultivars;In flowering stage: the best varieties for drought resistance were Dingxi Yunjie,Huining Yunjie, Qingcheng Yunjie and Longxi Yunjie; Cultivars Machang Yunjie,Zhuoni Yunjie, LuyashanYunjie, Tianshui Yunjie, ShangduYunjie were poor. In conclusion : Dingxi Yunjie, Longxi Yunjie,Huining Yunjie were the cultivars with strong drought resistance.
