The Castanopsis kawakamii Nature Reserve lies in the southwest of Sanming, Fujian. It is situated at south part of Mid-subtropical zone(26°07'~26°10' N,117°04'~117°27' E) with an area of 1125.6 hm~2 . The Castanopsis kawakamii nature forest is the biggest and purest one in our country. Its species value, ecological value and scientific value are extremely important, which made many Chinese and foreign scientists focus on it.In this paper, floric analysis, numerical classification, interspecific association of the major species and structural features of the community of evergreen broad leaved forest in Castanopsis kawakamii Nature Reserve in Sanming was conducted by adopting quadrat method.1. There are 223 species of vascular plants in the community of evergreen broad leaved forest in Castanopsis kawakamii Nature Reserve, belonging to 80 families and 159 genera, in which the pteridophyte accounted for 12 families 14 genera and 18 species, the gymnosperm 3 families, 3 genera and 3 species, and the angiosperm 65 families, 142 genera and 202 species.2. The floric characteristics of the community:(1) The flora is complicated and transitional. The tropical genera were the dominaint genera with the exception of 6 comopolitan genera in the community. There were 99 tropical genera, which accounted for 71.2% of the total genera. Moreover, the majority of them were pan-tropical and tropical Asian genera. There were 38 temperate genera, accounting for 27.3%, and 2 genera endemic to China, accountion for 1.44%.(2) The flora had come floristic constitents before Quaterary and retains many floristic elements before Quaternary.(3) There were many rare and endangered plants in the community.3. A variety of methods including the tabular comparison of data, the tabular comparison of similarity coefficient, the nearest method and the group-average method of hierarchical agglomerative classification were used to carry out numerical analysis for the community of evergreen broad leaved forest in Castanopsis kawakamii Nature Reserve in Sanming. Based on the results, The 22 forest plots in Castanopsis kawakamii Nature Reserve were divided into 7 formations according to the important values of species in tree layer, they were Castanopsis kawakamii formation, Castanopsis carlesii formation, Castanopsis eyrei formation, Machilus pauhoi formation, Cinnamomum micranthum and Castanopsis sclerophylla formation, Tsoongiodendron odorum formation and Phoebe bournei formation. Each formation of the community was in its stable stage, except that some plots had intruded deciduous trees due to human influence, these forests could resume their former stable states if management is enhanced.4. Based on the 2 X 2 contingency table, the interspecific association among 26 common species in the community of evergreen broad leaved forest in Castanopsis kawakamii Nature Reserve were examined by using various indices. The results are as follows:(1) W-test indicated that positive correlation exists among the common populations, which suggests that the communities were stable.(2) The most pairs of the 26 populations in the community showed positive correlation, in which 16 species pairs showed extremely significant positive correlations, 14 species pairs had significant positive correlations, 4 species pairs showed extremely significant negative correlations and 11 species pairs had significant negative correlations. The x2-test indicated that there was almost no significant interspicific association in most of the 325 species pairs, which refleets the independence of species pairs. The loose interspecific association is possibly related to the developmental stage of communities and ecological features of species. At present, they have arrived crimax stable stage.5. Based on the data collected from sample plots with an area of 11000 m2, we find the structure characteristic by analysing the life form spectrum, species diversity, horizontal and vertical structure of the evergreen broad-leaved forest community in Castanopsis kawakamii Nature Reserve. Result shows that:(1) The 15 dominant tree populations all belong to aggregated distribution. Some of them, such as Cinnamomum micranthum, Phoebe bournei, Castanopsis sclerophylla, Machilus...
