The experiment was carried out with Peking ducks between 3 and 6 weeks of age to determine the digestibility of amino acids and the requirement of amino acids, and set up the ideal pattern of the amino acids in corn-soybean meal diets. It can improve the availability of amino acids and offer the basis to establish the requirements of amino acids for ducks and to utilize the resource of protein feed efficiently. Experiment 1 The determination of the digestibility of amino acids in corn-soybean diet for Peking ducks of 6 weeks of age Sixteen 6-week-old Peking ducks were housed in dividual cages. Eight ducks were used to determine the digestibility of amino acids and eight ducks were used to determine the endogenous amino acids. The result of the apparent digestibility of Lys, Met, Thr, Try, Ile and Arg in corn-soybean meal diets was 82.74%, 90.46%, 82.14%, 90.13%, 79.60% and 89.99%, respectively, and the true digestibility of Lys, Met, Thr, Try ,Ile and Arg was 91.72%, 94.14%, 92.59%, 95.27%, 90.53% and 95.08%,respectively. Experiment 2 The requirement of amino acids for maintenance of duck Sixteen drakes were housed in dividual cages. Eight ducks were used to determine the endogenous amino acids, and eight ducks were used to determine the amino acids for the replacing skin. The result of the net requirement of amino acids for maintenance of Lys, Met, Thr, Try, Ile and Arg was 68mg, 19mg, 60mg, 39mg, 51mg and 69mg, respectively. The ideal pattern of amino acids for maintenance (Relative to Lys) was Lys100,Met28,Thr103,Try75,Ile75,Arg101, respectively. Experiment 3 The requirement of amino acids for growth of duck between 3 and 6 weeks of ageOne hundred ducks of 1 day of age raised 45 d were used to determine the requirement of amino acids for growth. Ten birds were weighed and killed at the end of 2 weeks and 6 weeks, respectively. The result of the net requirement of amino acids for growth of Lys, Met, Thr, Try, Ile and Arg was 910mg, 250mg, 660mg, 100mg, 640mg and 1000mg, respectively. The ideal pattern of amino acids of growth (Relative to Lys) was Lys100,Met27,Thr72,Try11,Ile70,Arg110, respectively. In conclusion, on the basis of the experiment, the total requirement of amino acids(Relative to the percent of feed) was Lys0.59%,Met0.15%,Thr0.43%,Try0.078%,Ile0.43%,Arg0.60%, respectively. The ideal pattern of the total amino acids (Relative to Lys) was Lys100,Met27,Thr74,Try14,Ile71,Arg105, respectively. The ideal pattern of the digestible amino acids (Relative to Lys) was Lys100,Met26,Thr73,Try13,Ile72,Arg102, respectively.
