This paper concerns Determineing the content of Schisandrin A and Schisandrin B in the materials from sixteen provinces of Schisandra, and Genetic diversity of the provinces for this specie, by using ISSR technique. The results are as follows:(1) The Liuhe province contains most Schisandrin A and Schisandrin B; Dunhua contains least, The Liuhe contains 2.14 times as much Schisandrin A and 3.3 times as much Schisandrin B as Dunhua.Research indicate Weihe (from Heilongjiang) and Liuhe (from Jilin) are the best province.(2) By means of ISSR maker, 6 arbitrary primers are used to analyze genetic variation among 16 provenance of Schisandra. Eighty-three polymorphic locus are detected in total. The range of percentage of polymorphic loci among sixteen populations is between 9.64% and 42.17 %, in which Hulin province is the lowest and Dongfanghong province is the highest.(3) Genetic variation for the population of these species is studied with Shannon information index and Nei's gene diversity index. Shannon information index varies from 0.0583 to 0.1966 and the range of Nei's gene diversity index among thirteen populations is between 0.0399 and 0.1254. The results show that there is the biggest variation within Dongfanghong province, and the smallest for Hulin province among sixteen populations.(4)Genetic differentiation among province of Schisandra is higher, that Ht is 0.2405; Hs is 0.0798; Dst is 0.1607. It means that genetic differentiation within the populations is66.81%%.(5) Dendrogram of genetic relationship among 6 provenances of Schisandra is constructed on the basis of genetic distance more than 0.09. Sixteen populations are divided into five groups by cluster analysis according to the genetic distance among the population. The first group includes Dongfanghong , Qingyuan, Hulin , Dunhua , Yanji , Fangzheng , Hunchun , Huinan province; the second group is Antu , Caohekou, Zhanhe province; the third group is Langxiang, Wangqing; the forth group is Ji' an; the fifth group is Shangzhi, Liuhe.
