Several experiments to study feeding value of barley-based diets in pigs have been briefly introduced in this paper, and Sichuan Barley 1 and crossbred pigs of Landrace×Rongchang are selected as experimental materials. The following are the major researching contents: (1) determination of nutrients and their digestibilities of barley, (2) filtration of proper proportions of corn substituted by barley in diets of piglets and finishing pigs, (3)filtration of expert additive of barley-based diets, (4)effects of different processing ways on feeding value of barley, and (5)effects of barley-based diets on carcass characteristics and meat qualities. The results show that: (l)the nutrition value table of barley is woven, and the apparent digestibilities of conventional nutrients of barley are determined, (2)the proper proportion of barley in diets of pigs is screened out, that is 45%, and three sets of diet formulation of piglets , growing pigs and finishing pigs are formed, (3)one set of feed additive of external enzymes based on β -glucanases and xylanases is screened out by adding common additive, β -glucanases, xylanases and lycine to barley-based diets, (4)performances could be improved through processing technologies , the proper processing technology of barley-based diets is barley→grinding→expanding→diet formulating→pelleting, and (5)carcass characteristics are improved by using barley-based diets in pigs.
