| Western　China　development　strategy　is　executed　and　the　adjustment　of　the　infrastructure　of　agricultural　production,　the　portion　of　livestock　production　in　agriculture　is　ever　increasing,　and　the　corresponding　farming　area　for　herbage　is　constantly　expanded.　In　Gansu　Province,　most　of　the　herbage　farms　at　present　are　medium　or　mini-sized.　Herbage　harvesting　is　generally　　performed　　manually　2　to　3　times　each　year,　having　a　low　productivity,high　cost　and　labor　intensity.　The　newly　emerging　herbage　industry　is　urgently　demanding　economical　mini-type　herbage　harvesters.　Based　on　this,　a　kind　of　small-scaled　high　speed　grassing　reaper　is　researched　and　designed.　Its　has　some　creative　aspects,　as　follows:　1.　The　toothed　chain-cutter　is　adopted　as　the　cutting　part　in　this　reaper.　Adopting　ourselves　patent　production　——"the　toothed　chain-cutter",　a　reaper　which　can　not　work　only　in　　wide　breadth　but　in　high　speed　is　researched　and　designed　.The　reaper　has　many　strong　points,　such　as　configuration　compact,　motivate　transmission　simple,　high　productivity　and　low　cost.　It　can　one-off　finish　reaping　and　gathering.　　2.　Front　hang　and　side　setting　are　adopted.　The　reaper　is　hung　in　the　front　of　the　four-wheeler　tractor.　The　stand　header　is　adopted　.The　cut　grass　is　transported　to　the　right　side　and　set　in　bar　form　with　transmission　belt.　3.　The　cutter　and　transmission　belt　are　driven　by　the　same　axes.　Motivity　from　the　tractor　is　transported　to　the　first　axes　of　reducer　with　traps.　The　speed　is　reduced　.The　second　axes　drives　the　cutter　driving　wheel　and　the　transmission　belt　to　work.　The　paper　fully　applied　method　of　machine　design　and　machine　principles　to　design　individual　parts　on　the　toothed　chain-cutter　herbage　harvester,　and　perform　load　analyzing　and　strength　evaluation　on　the　mainly　shafts　and　the　wheel　gears.　Then　the　software　of　AutoCAD　2004　or　Pro/ENGINEER　was　used　to　complete　the　whole　series　drawings　for　the　machine.
