Conventional flat irrigation is widely used in irrigated area, which led to the waste of water resources. Therefore, the controlled traffic tillage with film-mulched and straw cover was adopted based on the ridge culture techniques, in order to improve water use efficiency, by changing flood irrigation to furrow irrigation. The ration of ridge and ditch is 2.23 to 1 and studied the effect of controlled traffic tillage with ridge irrigation to water use of spring wheat in Hexi corridor. The result show as following: 1. Due to compaction, the soil strength of controlled traffic tillage in ditch is significantly higher than conventional tillage in 0~20cm depth. The soil strength of controlled traffic tillage in ditch is come to 3000KPa average at 10cm depth but 1000KPa in conventional tillage. The volume quality of top soil is increased and the soil porosity is reduced owing to compaction, so water flow downward difficultly and the amount of water vertical infiltration is reduced. Owing to the degree of water side infiltration in ditch of controlled traffic tillage is more power than conventional tillage, the width of water side infiltration of controlled traffic tillage is 45cm and conventional tillage is 30cm approximately. Thus there are better soil water surroundings for wheat grow healthy in film-mulched and straw covered conditions and water content of ridge of controlled traffic tillage are higher than conventional tillage about 1.45% in each phenological stages, so quantity of water restore in ridge of controlled traffic tillage are higher than conventional tillage about 6.60mm.In the same quota of water irrigation , the capacity of water vertical infiltration of conventional tillage in ditch is decreased with the time passed ,but is increased of controlled traffic tillage with the time passed. The quota of water irrigation is 600m~3/hm~2, water content increased not significant at 100cm depth in ditch. Neither the conventional tillage nor the controlled traffic tillage, the soil water content of the middle of the ridge is often low and caused water stress. 2. On the one hand, soil water evaporation of ridge in controlled traffic tillage is reduced due to plastic mulch and straw cowered, on the other hand, owing to the degree of water side infiltration of controlled traffic tillage is more power than conventional tillage, there is better soil water content in ridge, thus wheat grows healthy in controlled traffic tillage, stalks and ears are in longer green stages, LAI ,LAD and dry matter of the controlled traffic tillage are higher than the conventional tillage, but LAD dedicate greatly for wheat yield and r is 0.912*.Wheat roots are developed, there are more root length. Roots dry matter of the controlled traffic tillage are higher than the conventional tillage from 0 to 100cm,CTP and CT treatment is increased 5.8% and 8.2% compared with TP and T treatment respectively, also the effect of the covered treatment are superior to the others, but CTP treatment is significant. 3. WUE of CTP treatment is 1.68kg/m3, TP treatment is 1.37 kg/m3, CTS treatment and CT treatment are 1.18 kg/m3 and 1.14 kg/m3.CTP is increased 18.5% compared with TP, But CTS and CT are decreased respectively 13.9% and 11.6% compared with TS treatment and T treatment, water consumption of CTP treatment is higher than other treatments significantly, so controlled traffic tillage with plastic mulch can increase WUE obviously. Correlation analysis showed that yield and water consumption and WUE are significant, but with WUE and r is 0.992**.Controlled traffic tillage is beneficial to demonstrating the advantage from bordering-wheat, yield of CTP treatment is increased by 20.9% compared with TP, but CTS and CT are decreased respectively 21.3% and 27.9% compared with TS treatment and T treatment; Yield and height existed significant relationships and r is 0.971**,it can showed the effect of plastic and straw cover. Correlated r of Yield and grain per ear and 1000 grains weight is 0.807 and 0.528 respectively,so grain per ear can indicate yield in all yield components. Also yield and HI is correlated significantly and r is 0.945**.
