| The crop cultivation in Shanxi province has a long history, and after the long natural selection and human domestication there are a lot of different kinds of crop varieties and species, most of which have been stored in the lower-temperature storage of Institute of Crop Germplasm, Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences. However, the management means at the present limits the utilization of the resources for scientists, it is urgent to establish a management information system of crop germplasm resources to make scientific management and efficient use of the germplasm resources.Using ArcView GIS software as platform and the Avenue programming language and development environment that's part of ArcView and Visual basic programming language as a development means, and Visual FoxPro as database, the author established a Crop Germplasm Resources Information System (CGRIS) based on the crop germplasm resources data of Shanxi Province.The design of the system consists of structure designing, function designing, database designing and chart layer designing. According to the purpose of the CGRIS, the system had four subsystems: the distribution map of germplasm resources; the inquiry of germplasm resources; the statistics and analysis of germplasm resources and the maintenance of germplasm resources.The exploitation of the system principally includes: inquiry, database maintenance, attribute statistics, chart and exterior package and so on. The main functions of this system we developed here are as follows: 1).
