Water is the restrict factor to the crop growing in Shanxi north dryland .The key problem is how to improve the limited water resource utilizing ratio, so we made experiments about ridge film mulching micro-rainwater catchment planting technique of maize in Zuoyun county in order to find a suitable method to collect rainwater and increase yield. The experiment design was contrast technique in which we put to use different treatments .The experiment studied ecological effect, biological effect and yield effect on different treatments. The result has showed :1 The technique of ridge film mulching micro-rainwater catchment planting showed obvious effect on collecting precipitation , increasing soil moisture and increasing soil temperature . The average water storage in 0-60cm soil layer treated by different ridge film mulching and furrow seeding techniques was superior to that treated by common film mulching and non-mulching . Its water storage was 0.64%~ 0.87%, 1.81%~2.12% higher than the latter respectively. The effect of temperature-increasing in common film mulching was obvious in maize growing prior season . however, the effect or temperature-increasing treated by ridge film mulching and furrow seeding techniques is better than the other treatments in whole growing season, and the effect of temperature-increasing decreased in the later stage. In the same time, the technique of ridge film mulching and furrow seeding also improved soil physical structure and accelerated the transforming of efficient nutrient and brought about useful environment.2 The ridge film mulching and furrow seeding techniques promoted the growth and development of all maize organs , and its plant height , roots and leaf area had growing coordinated. As a result, the technique promoted the maize maturing about 15days and harvested more yields.3 The ridge film mulching and furrow seeding techniques had eminent effect on increasing yield and income. It eminently improved maize ear properties and got higher yield. Its average yield was 21.73%, 73.26%higher than common mulching and non-mulching. Its average water use efficiency was25.35%, 81.94% higher than the common mulching and non-mulching . Its economical efficiency was more 40.81%, 83.95% than common mulching and non-mulching .Comparing among different treatments, we drew a conclusion that single slope ridge mulching and furrow seeding technique is the best.
