Infectious condition of coccidium in swine of Luoyang city were investigated by flotation in saturated sucrose-saline floating and counting in McMaster chamber. The results showed the positive rate of coccidium infections in swine was 8.64%.The degree of infection were vary with the age of swine. OPG ranged from 200~23200, the average OPG was 9312 ± 2048. 8 species of coccidium have been identified, including: Isospora Suis, Eimeria yanglingensis sp., E. porci, E. debliecki, E. suis, E.perminuta, E. scabra, E. neodebliecki. The infectious rates of them were 7.34%,5.09%,5.01%,4.40%,4.06%,3.63%,3.11%,2.42% respectively. Their shape and structure were described in this paper. The pathogenicity of Isospora suis on experimental piglets were investigated. Piglets were divided into 6 group. One group was uninfected group while the others were infected groups. Each infected piglets groups were inoculated with 1×10~4, 5×10~4, 2×10~5,5×10~5, 1×10~6 sporogonized Isospora suis oocysts respectively. The results indicated that every piglets in infected group had clinical symptoms. Feces ranged from white pasty to yellow pasty cream and liquid. The clinical symptoms of different infected groups were almost the same. The every group piglets with the infected doses of oocysts more than 5×10~4 developed diarrhea and dehydrate evendeath. The latent period of Isospora suis was 4-5d and the prepatent period was 16-2Id.With the increasing of the infection dose, the symptoms of the piglets became more and more severe. The severe histologic pathogenic lesion of infected piglets was happened in jejunum and ileum. Severe blunting and atrophy of villi were observed on the intestinal surface. Those piglets naturally infected isosporosis were treated with Toltrazuril solution(Baycox) or Diclazuril. The results demonstrated that Baycox was efficient in treating isosporosis of piglets, per piglet were treated with Baycox in 25mg/kg and used for 2 successive days. The clearance and the rate of oocysts decline were 100% on 3days after treatment with Baycox. It was suggested that Baycox were efficient in treating isosporosis in piglets. It could be widely used in practising and production; but Diclazuril solution had no efficiency in treating isosporosis in piglets.
