The requirement of water is increasing as the national economic developing, so the water resources play an important role in national economics' continuable development. Because of the most rate of the water used in agriculture irrigation, increase the irrigation utility is the most efficient way to solve the problem lacking of water resources in the future. The technology of saving water in agriculture irrigation will bring a revolution to the agriculture in China.The management of agriculture irrigation technology in China is lower than the developed countries at present. The technology of how to acquire and manage the agriculture irrigation information is out of data, and it doesn't fit for widely used. Thus, the technology combination of the information acquisition, analysis supported by GIS and irrigation control decision with automatic and intelligent equipments for irrigation is significant. The new technology will make the precision agricultural irrigation come true and promote to form efficient agricultural irrigation.The paper has developed a precision irrigation detection and control system, which is made up of advanced technologies, such as hardware and software in information acquisition, process, analysis and control. The main study of this paper was as follows:1. The module of irrigation information management based on GIS was developed with Visual Basic 6.0, MapX and SQL Server 2000. It has made the expression of irrigation information on the map come true. The irrigation information could be analyzed visibly. The pattern of the information expression has become more abundant and the interface more friendly. The information of irrigation and their rules will be expressed more lively and strictly. It has supported the basic research for enlarging the applications of GIS technology in agriculture irrigation.2. The fuzzy controller for calculating the water requirement of plants was designed by using Fuzzy Logic Control Toolkit, supplied by Lab VIEW. It works with the rules made by exporters to calculate how much water the plants need. And the rules can be modified or optimized through the practical irrigation. The calculation is more precisethan that is got by traditional calculating pattern.3. Due to the wonderful connection between the Lab VIEW and the acquisition devices, the fuzzy control module has been developed, combined with the external circuit and the actuator. So the designed fuzzy controller could be used in agriculture irrigation successfully.4. Integrating virtual instrument technology, sensor technique, GPS technology, GIS technology, database technology and fuzzy logic control theory, into the system of precision irrigation detection and control. The system has achieved the combination of information acquisition, analysis, process, expression and control decision. It's a new effective way for agriculture irrigation management.
