In this research, the calorific value and energy characteristics of Artemisia scoparia were studied on the two different circumstances on Songnen grasslands, in the whole growth season to find out its regular, in order to lucubrate to photosynthesis ratio, energy convert and energy utilization of A. scoparia to offer basic data. The results are showed as follows:The calorific value changes of A. scoparia population changes with seasons;this is connected with vegetative biology and ecology characteristics. Dynamic analysis of the calorific value of A. scoparia population in the whole growth season showed that caloric value seasonal changes in A. scoparia organs are: fruit>bud>flower>leaf>stem>root. In different circumstances, calorific value changes vary due to the different substances in different organs. The seasonal calorific value changes in two circumstances are almost alike, in an upward trend in principle, single- vegetal>commingle-vegetal is the trends. The seasonal dynamics of energy in A. scoparia population depends on its changes in biomass, and calorific value changes also play a role. In different periods, the distribution ratio of the energy in the same organ vary, and the same with the distribution ratio in different organs. The energy fluctuation of A. scoparia population of single-vegetal and commingle-vegetal in different seasons has the same trends, and this is related to the growth pattern and strategy reproduction. The special distribution of energy of A. scoparia population differ above ground and under ground, above ground, the energy value gradually increased and then decreased with height;under ground, it gradually decreased with depth. But the energy mainly accumulates above the ground. The carbon content of A. scoparia varies little in all organs at different height, ranging from64% to 81 %, indicating that the accumulation of carbon in organs is relatively stable, almost invisible in discrepancy. Nitrogen content was relatively low, and the N content in the root and stem was in a decreasing trend over periods in both single- vegetal and commingle-vegetal, while in the leaf, the N content was in a decreasing trends after a steady increase, reaching the maximum at 50cm. the C content fluctuations with season were almost the same in root, stem, leaf, bud, flower and fruit in both single- vegetal and commingle-vegetal, and the carbon distribution in organs showed the same patternAnalysis showed that calorific value and energy changes in different periods in both single-vegetal and commingle-vegetal is connected to the carbon content, and no significant connection with nitrogen content is found. So, in different circumstances, as a impact factor of calorific value and energy, the C content plays a main role. But the C content in single-vegetal population is larger than the commingle-vegetal population;the C content and the N contentare the vertical distribution of the calorific value is prominence mutuality the C content and the N-content in different circumstances. While the vertical distribute on of the energy has little relation to the C content and the N content.
