The traditional agricultural expert system mainly involved the domain such as crop-planting, irrigation, fertilization, prevention and cure for plant diseases and insect pests, crop breeding, forecast for crop production, aquatic product breeding, plant protection, decision-making of economy and so on. But, few of them involved the domain of horticultural facilities' selection. The exploiting method of traditional agricultural expert system mainly adopted HOST-LAN or C/S model and used structural language. It's very hard to realize the dynamic intercourse and timing inquiring.With the development of information technology, popularization of the network, especially the abroad applications of Internet, The new generation technology such as COM, flowing technology of project, distributed calculation have arouse more and more attention of the developers. And more of them have been used to exploit agricultural expert system. This study has discussed the digital problem of horticultural domain especially the greenhouse and its mixed system utilizing B/S model ,.NET, web database ,UML and VRML by the example of plug seedling for the tomato.Based on above goals, this paper finished the work as follows:1. Collected and packed up the data of the plug seedling for the tomato. Provided the selecting principle and the mathematic models. Made the analysis of software demanding by UML and given the visual show by the use-case diagram and activity diagram.2. Exploited the server's application program COM include the greenhouse principal part, covering material and related mixed systems by ASP.NET3. Conceived the related database such as model database, climate database, standard database and facilities database by SQL SERVER2000.And the database can be amended without affecting the normal running.4. Exploited the three-dimensional model of the greenhouse structure by VRML. The model can intercourse with users and simulate truly. It can run by itself or by embed into the system.5. Completed the test of the software and the COM. The result can meet the using request.This research has used the COM and UML technology in horticultural domain for the first time, The system not only realized the inquiring function for the plug seedling for the tomato but also had very important effect for the digital progress of the horticultural domain.
