By complex-salts stress experiment we evaluated the salt tolerance of 8 accessions of Elytrigia species, 2 accessions in which, Thinopyrum ponticum (Elytrigia elongata) CV.Alker and Elytrigia intermedia with high tolerance to salt, were chosen for detailed research, including mono-salt and complex-salts tolerance compensatory growth of seeds, seedlings and plants, and primary study on their salt tolerance compensatory physiology.8 accessions of Elytrigia Species were significant differences on salt tolerance, There into the salt tolerance of Thinopyrum ponticum (Elytrigia elongata) CV. Alker and Elytrigia intermedia and Thinopyrum ponticum(Elytrigia elongata)CV.Jose were stronger respectively, and the salt tolerance of 3 materials were not differences. The germination rates, germination indexes and vigor indexes of the 8 accessions decreased with the increase of complex-salts concentration.The results of experimentation showed that plant appeared salt tolerance compensatory growth from lower salt concentration treatment to normal condition; the measurement of the compensatory ability of salt tolerance can precisely compare the difference of salt tolerance, the measurement of the compensatory point of salt tolerance can precisely confirm optimal salt concentration of plant apparatus, and the study of the compensatory character can provide experimental foundation.Salt tolerance compensatory growth was observed at seeds, seedlings and mature plants of Thinopyrum ponticum (Elytrigia elongata) CV. Alker and Elytrigia intermedia. Furthermore, the salt tolerance compensatory growth of them has the difference among inter-species, organs and salt component treatment.Under complex-salts stress, salt tolerance compensatory range and compensatory point of Thinopyrum ponticum (Elytrigia elongata) CV. Alker were lower than Elytrigia intermedia's; under mono-salt stress, salt tolerance compensatory range of Thinopyrum ponticum (Elytrigia elongata) CV.Alker were higher than Elytrigia intermedia's; its mono-salt tolerance compensatory point sameness. The salt tolerance of them have obvious differences at interspecific.Fo Thinopyrum ponticum (Elytrigia elongata) CV. Alker and Elytrigia intermedia, the differences of complex-salt compensatory points among organs were in such an order: mature plants > seeds > seedlings.
