Fourteen pathogenic fungus were found causing fungous disease of Carica papaya L.There were Colletotrichum gloeosporioides Penz., Colletotrichum capcisi (Syd.) Bult&Bisby, Phytophthora palmivora Butler, Pythium aphanidermatum(Eds.)Fitz., Diplodia Fr.ex Mont., Rhizopus stolonifer(Ehrenb.ex Fr.)Vuill, Aspergillus flavus Link, Oidium caricae-papaya Yen, Oidium caricae Noack, Cladosporium caricinum C.F.Zhang et P.K.Chi, Cladosporium caricilum Corda, Corynespora citricola Ellis., Corynespora cassiicola (Berk.et Curt) Wei, Curvularia stapeliae Hughes & du Plessis. In these pathogens, Diplodia Fr.ex Mont., Aspergillus flavus Link, Corynespora citricola Ellis, were first report. Curvularia stapeliae Hughes & du Plessis was new record in china. However, Diplodia Fr. ex Mont. warrants further identification. The biological characteristics of C. gloeosporioides, C. capcisi, C. cassiicola, C. caricinum were studied. The results showed that C. gloeosporioides could grow from 9℃ to 38℃, the optimum temperature was from 25 to 28 ℃; And the range of pH was from 3 to 11, with optimum pH at 6; The conidia could germinate under the temperature from 7 to 40 ℃, the optimum temperature was 28 to 30℃, the range of pH was from 3 to 11, the optimum pH was at 5. The conidia germination was strict with relative humidity, which needed high relative humidity and water was best; The growth of mycelia was affected with light, which could grow well without light. The glucose, lactose, fructose, sucrose maltose and soluble starch could promote the conidia germination and formation. The peptone was best for mycelium growth. The lethiferous temperature of conidia was 55℃ for 10min.C. capcisi could grow from 9℃ to 38℃, the optimum temperature was from 25 to 28 ℃; And the range of pH was from 3 to 11, with optimum pH at 6; The conidia could germinate under the temperature from 7 to 40 ℃, the optimum temperature was 28℃, the range of pH was from 3 to 11, the optimum pH was at 7.
