In this paper, 30 samples of limpograsses (Hemarthria. Compressa(L. f.)R.Br.) have been studied the productivity and yield components. Moreover, we selected 14 samples with higher yield to be researched the cold resistance. The main purpose of this experiment was to select excellent limpograss resource with high yield and good cold resistance. The results are as follow.1 The fresh yield of researched samples ranged from 152.84 t/ha to 213.17 t/ha and hey yield ranged from 30.8 t/ha to 56.3t/ha -both were the mean yield in 2004 and 2005. There were 4 cutting in 2005. The highest fresh grass and hey yield were produced in the first cutting (in May), while the lowest yield in the last cutting (in Nov.), which at percent 30.16 of fresh grass yield and 30.33 of hey yield reaped in the first cutting. The best growth velocity also appeared after the first cutting-7.73cm/5d, while the worst velocity which at percent 14.52 of the best one came between the third and forth cutting (from Aug. to Nov.).2 All yield components but the stem-leave ratio was significant in correlation to fresh grass and hey yields. Especially, the correlativity between per sq.m. fresh stem weight and fresh grass yield was best, and the same matter happened to hey stem weight and hey yield. According to the result of multiple regression analysis, the regressions were significant at the 0.01 level between yield components and fresh grass yield or hey yield, and the best multiple linear regression equations were evaluated.3 Based on cluster analysis, these samples were divided into three types. I -The yield was highest, growth velocity was best of three types. The grasses were tall and strong, leaves were big. This type was mainly consisted of new lines of 'Guangyi'. Besides, there was a wild sample-H019 which belongs to this cluster. II -Almost all productivity indexes of there grasses were a little lower than the first type. But H031 and H001 were the promising samples, because H031 could be used as shorter but stronger forage, and the growth velocity of H001 was excellent. III-The plants were shortest and slenderest of all three types.
