The study was conducted with two grazing systems of banning grazing and delaying stocking on family ranches in Stipa breviflora desert steppe. Evaluations on the aspects of plant population, community, soil and mode of forage were made on the two systems . The results were as follows:(1) 3 delaying grazing could improve several indexes that were better than free grazing. However, the effect on delaying grazing didn`t come into being positive ratio with time. Compared with the free grazing area, the plant population important value were highest in banning grazing area, indicating the plant community employed better stability and adaptability to environment.(2) The analysis ofβ-diversity index shew moderate delaying grazing and banning grazing that were benefit for stabilization of environment.(3) After 5 months of grazing experiment, the standing crop of community in banning grazing area was obviously higher than the rest area. Meantime it was higher in 3 delaying grazing area than the continuous grazing area.(4) The banning grazing and delaying grazing of short period had little effect on underground biomass and soil.(5) Total sugar seasonal dynamics of Stipa breviflora,Cleistogenes songorica and Allium polyrrhizum were identical with that of reducing sugar. Contents of total sugar were higher in the banning grazing area and 3 delaying grazing area. However, contents of total sugar had little difference between 3 delaying grazing area. Another spring, reducing sugar of 3 kinds of plants were higher in the banning grazing area and delaying grazing area. The delaying grazing was benefit for growth and regreening of Allium polyrrhizum.(6) The light saturation point and light compensative point of 3 kinds of plants had little difference among different 5 treatments. Meantime the curves of diurnal variations of light had two peaks. The order of 3 kinds of plants were Stipa breviflora>Allium polyrrhizum>Cleistogenes songorica but they had little difference in 5 treatments. Solarenergy use efficiency and water use efficiency of 3 kinds of plants (the first delaying grazing area) had obviously positive correlation.(7) The results of experiment shewed the 0.5kg corn stalk +0.9kg corn silage + 0.1kg...
