Melilotoides are also named after wild alfalfa and flower alfalfa. It is a good leguminous forage germ plasm that has advantage of strong resistance. Choice the leguminous forage which is different from Melilotoides in drought resistance to mensurate and screen drought resistance index, which offers effective identifing method in early stage and breeding material for Melilotoides drought resistance breeding.Drought resistance of six Melilotoides materials are identified with absolute-drought method and their drought resistance is ascertained in the experiment. Identify the reliability of drought resistance index through mensurating various drought resistance index and with reverse-validating method in seed germination and seedling period respectively. At the same time, preliminary studies on photosynthetic characteristics of Melilotoides are done, which determined the relationship between net photosynthetic rate(Pn), water use efficiency(WUE), intercellular CO2 concentration, stomatal conductance, yield and drought resistance. Obtain indexes which are fit for drought resistance of Melilotoides idendified according to screening step-by-step. The indexes are Dry Matter Stress Index(DMSI), Plant Height Stress Index(PHSI), Activity Index(AI) and Thousand Grain Weight(TGW). And select No.2-27 of Melilotoides which are strong drought resistance and high yield in the experiment .
