Liriodendron Chinese is a superior virescence forestation specie, also a paper pulp-making and veneer-making specie in south China. One of the most important factors for artificial forest to reduce its yield is the fertility decline and lack of phosphorus in red earth. Provenances with high phosphorus efficiency genetic breeding are contributed to success in artificial forest development and plantation construction.Six classical Liriodendron Chinese provenances with different phosphorus efficiency were came from various areas of south China. Soil culture experiment at two phosphorus levels (5mg·kg-1 and 180mg·kg-1) was conducted to study the characteristics of phosphorus efficiency, the relationship between phosphorus environment and growth as well as dry mater accumulation, the physiological responses (including chlorophyll content, MDA and soluble protein content, and APase activity in roots and leaves).Experiment was conducted to expose that the differents characteristics of phosphorus genetic and its variation, illustrate the adaptable mechanism of Liriodendron Chinese under low phosphorus stress, construct the special characteristics for phosphorus effficiency of Liriodendron Chinese under low phosphorus stress, choose several Liriodendron Chinese provenances with high phosphorus efficency, determine some new technique for forest accumulation besed on different phosphorus effficiency.
