This experiment (including two sub-experiments) was conducted in teaching and researching orchard of GuangXi University from March 2005 to March 2006. Longan (Dimocarpus longan Lour.) cv.ShiXia was used as tested materials to study the effects of comprehensive management of nutrient resource on the leaf nutrients and root growth of longan. The aim of the study was to provide fruit production with basic theory of scientific fertilization and comprehensive utilization of nutrients. The results of the study showed that:1 .The number of new roots of trees treated with pit-fertilizing with cattle dung and inoculating earthworms was greater than that of trees treated with pit-fertilizing with cattle dung only. It was also found that number of roots in bags filled with vermicompost and those in bags filled with cattle dung only were increased significantly. It suggested that the number of fine roots smaller than 2mm in diameter was 2.35 times and 2.14 time as many as that of CK, respectively, and the number of medium roots and thick roots of thicker than 2mm in diameter was 3.17 times and 2.23 times as many as that of CK, respectively.2. Compared with CK, the content of N,P,K,Ca and Mg in longan leaves of trees treated with pit-fertilizing with cattle dung and inoculating earthworms, pit-fertilizing with cattle dung only and pit-fertilizing with biological organic manure were increased markedly, amongst which...
