Objective:Our previous study show that the antibacterial property and cell compatibilityof Ti-Cu sintered alloy in vitro, and show its special advantages in terms of antibacterial.Inour study we try to investigate the antibacterial property and bone compatibility of antibacterialTi-Cu sintered alloy in vivo, and provide theory for clinic.Methods:1.20um of1×105cfu/ml Staphylococcus aureus was spread on Ti-Cu sinteredalloy and Titanium alloy by Finnpipette when the Ti-Cu sintered alloy and titanium alloy wereimplanted into muscle of New Zealand White rabbits. General observation, germiculture, white blood cell count (WBC) and histopathological analysis were performed before operationand on postoperative1d﹑4d﹑7d and14d respectively.2.The antibacterial Ti-Cu sintered alloyand Titanium alloy implants was inserted into metaphysis of rabbits femurs in one side.Afteroperation, we used fluorescence sequential labeling technique. The bone-implant interfacestissues were obtained in1week﹑2weeks﹑3weeks﹑4weeks﹑8weeks and12weeks andevaluated through histological examination﹑Immunohistochemistry﹑Fluorescent labeling﹑Undecalcificated bones slicing and X-ray.,Bone Implant Contact and Mineral appositionratio.By comparing with Titanium alloy implants, analysis and evaluation the osteogenesisability of the antibacterial Ti-Cu sintered alloy.Results1.In Titanium alloy group, there were moderate suppuration abundant S.aureusand inflammatory cells, high WBC while there were slight suppuration, few S.aureus andinflammatory cells in Ti-Cu sintered alloy group. Moreover, WBC increased slightly in lattergroup.there is obvious antibacterial advantages in antibacterial Ti-Cu sintered alloy invivo.2.Both of the two group antibacterial Ti-Cu sintered alloy and Titanium alloy implantspresented high osteogenic activity, and well Bone compatibility by evaluated throughhistological examination、calculate with Bone Implant Contact and Mineral apposition ratioand Radiographic inspection.Indicate that there’s no difference between antibacterial Ti-Cusintered alloy and Titanium alloy implants in osseointegration.Conclusions1. Ti-Cu sintered alloy has better antibacterial effects than those of Titaniumalloy in vivo.2.There’s no difference between antibacterial Ti-Cu sintered alloy and Titaniumalloy implants in osseointegration.
