Objective:To observe the effect on inflammatory factors, oxidative stress factors, vascular endothelium injury factors in pre-diabetes patients who used Xiaotang seven-herb formula.Methods:68patients diagnosed with pre-diabetes were recruited in the study, randomly divided into the two groups,34patients in the trail group and34patients in the control group. The former was treated with Xiaotang seven-herb formula and lifestyle intervention while the latter was only treated with lifestyle intervention.At12weeks after treatment, we observed the change of indexes including C-reactive protein, tumor necrosis factor alpha,interleukin-6,malondialdehyde,superoxide dismu-tase,oxidized low-density lipoprotein,endothelin-l and von willebrand factor.Results:l.CRP decreased after treatment (P<0.05) in the trial group, but not in the control group (P>0.05).The difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05) between the two groups after treatment;2.IL-6decreased significantly after treatment in the trial group(P<0.05),but not in the control group (P>0.05).The difference was statistically significant between the two groups after treatment(P<0.01);3.MDA decreased after treatment in both groups(P<0.05),but the difference between the two groups was not statistically significant (P>0.05);4.SOD increased after treatment in both groups (P<0.01) and the difference was statistically significant between the two groups after treatment(P<0.01);5.vWF,ET-1decreased significantly after treatment in the trial group(P<0.05),but not in the control group (P>0.05), the difference was not statistically significant between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05);6.The change of Ox-LDL and TNF-a was not statistically significant before and after treatment in both groups(P>0.05),the difference was not statistically significant between the two groups after treatment(P>0.05).Conclusion:Xiaotang seven-herb formula could improve inflammatory factors, oxidative stress factors and vascular endothelium injury factors in patients with pre-diabetes on a varying degree. To a certain extent, it couid inhibit the inflammatory response of the body in pre-diabetes patients, increase the body’s antioxidant capacity, and protect the vascular endothelium.
