Objective:Based on modern literature explore TCM syndrome types, syndrome elements distribution and combination laws and medication rule of hypertension.Methods:we retrieved literature from each databases, then filtering literature, data standardization, extracting syndrome elements and data entry, Using SPSS17.0software for statistical description of syndrome type, syndrome elements, prescriptions and medicine.Results:1. The common syndrome types of hypertension were Yin deficiency and Yang excess, excessive of the liver-yang, excessive of phlegm-dampness, the liver fire overdose, liver-kidney Yin deficiency,blood stasis.2. The common syndrome elements of disease location were liver and kidney, The common syndrome elements of disease character were Yang excess, Yin deficiency, blood stasis, phlegm, fire, dampness, Qi-deficiency, Yang-deficiency.3.The common combination of syndrome elements were combined by2and4syndrome elements. The common combination of2syndrome elements were phlegm combined with dampness and liver combined with Yang excess, The common combination of4syndrome elements were liver and kidney combined with Yin deficiency and Yang excess.4. Hypertension commonly used prescriptions were Tianma gouteng Decoction, Liuwei dihuang Decoction, Banxia baizhu tianma Decoction and Wendan Decoction. The syndrome elements of Yang excess commonly used prescription was Tianma gouteng Decoction,Yin deficiency commonly used Jianling Decoction and Liuwei dihuang Decoction, Blood stasis commonly used Yiqi huoxue Decoction, Phlegm commonly used Banxia baizhu tianma Decoction and Wendan Decoction, Dampness commonly used Banxia baizhu tianma Decoction, Qi-def iciency commonly used Yiqi huoxue Decoction and Buzhong yiqi Decoction.5. Overall medication rule:The Commonly used medicine categories were the tonics, calming liver wind, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, heat-clearing, removing dampness and promoting diuresis. The Commonly used medicine were Achyranthes bidentata, Gastrodia elata, Uncaria, Poria cocos, Rhizoma ligustici wallichii,Haliotis, Radix paeoniae alba, Eucommia ulmoides, Mulberry parasitism, Salvia miltiorrhiza.6.The common syndrome elements of disease character medication rule:The syndrome elements of Yang excess commonly used medicine were Achyranthes bidentata, Uncaria, Gastrodia elata, Haliotis, Eucommia ulmoides; Yin deficiency commonly used Achyranthes bidentata, Gastrodia elata, Radix paeoniae alba, Uncaria, Haliotis;Blood stasis commonly used Salvia miltiorrhiza, Rhizoma ligustici wallichii, Achyranthes bidentata, Angelica, Notoginseng;Phlegm commonly used Pinellia, Poria cocos, Large-headed atractylodes, Dried tangerine, Gastrodia elata;Fire commonly used Rhizoma coptidis, Uncaria, Selfheal, Scutellaria baicalensis georgi, Gastrodia elata;Dampness commonly used Large-headed atractylodes, Poria cocos, Pinellia, Gastrodia elata, Alisma;Qi-deficiency commonly, used Milkvetch Root, Angelica, Rhizoma ligustici wallichii, Codonopsis,Large-headed atractylodes.Conclusions:The most common syndrome types of hypertension was Yin deficiency and Yang excess, The common syndrome elements were liver, Kidney, Yang excess and Yin deficiency. Blood stasis and phlegm were important influencing factors of hypertension. The common treatment of hypertension were nourishing liver and kidney, suppressing hyperactive liver and Yang, invigorate the circulation of blood, clearing heat and remove dampness through diuresis.
