This article is divided into two parts. The first part is the literature review.First, expound the understanding process of Peptic Ulcer (PU) from the ancientbooks of traditional Chinese medicine. The causes of the disease can be dividedinto exogenous evil encroaching stomach, diet hurting stomach, emotionaldisorders, weak spleen or stomach and so on. In clinical, the common types ofsyndrome are damp heat in spleen and stomach, liver-stomach disharmony, weaknessof spleen and stomach, stomach Yin deficiency, obstruction of collaterals byblood stasis. Then express a few opinion and experience on types of syndromeand treatment of many physicians.The second part is the clinical retrospective analysis. PU contains GastricUlcer (GU), Duodenal Ulcer (DU) and Complex Ulcer (CU) due to different partsof ulcers.120patients according to PU diagnostic criteria, including46GUpatients,61DU patients and13CU patients, collecting their sex, age, courseof disease, season of suffering disease, profession, inducement, Helicobacterpylori (Hp) infection, gastroscope, pathology, type of syndrome in TCM. UsingSPSS16.0software, through the analysis of mean, standard deviation,constituent ratio and other related index as well as χ2test, reaching theconclusion as below. PU patients, male to female ratio is about1.86:1. GUpatients are more than45years of age in the elderly. DU patients are youngpeople under the age of44. The average duration of disease is about8.5years.PU occurs in the time when winter turns spring and autumn turns to winter. Ina variety of profession, the proportion of retirees is the highest, followedby the staff and workers. Among all inducement of PU patients, dietary factorsand emotional factors occupy the largest proportion, totally amounted to60%.Hp infection rate is80.83%. On the basis of TCM Clinical Treatment on DigestiveDiseases, PU is classified into five types. The types of damp heat in spleenand stomach and liver-stomach disharmony are the most, respectively accountedfor39.17%and27.5%, next the weakness of spleen and stomach type accounting for15%, less in the types of stomach Yin deficiency and obstruction ofcollaterals by blood stasis.
