Stranguria is a kind of disease whose main symptoms are the frequent urination shortastringent, the dripping tingling, and the alvine hypertonicity induced pain. The mainpathogenesis many doctors studied now is the theory about “All kinds of the stranguriadepend on weakness of kidney and the heat of bladder”, which is recorded in ZhubingYuanhou Lun. In most of the treatment, they use the main ways by tonifying kidney, clearingaway heat and dampness. As a doctor of Chinese medicine in Liaoning Province and anexpert in kidney disease, Professor Zhang Wenkai has been engaged in clinical, scientificresearch and teaching for more than30years and has accumulated rich clinical experience. Hegoes into the predecessors on the basis of The Treasured Classics in which recording aboutthe pathogenesis of stranguria,“the five Zang organs and the six Fu organs are not health, thetriple energizers are obscure and nutritive qi and defensive qi have been consumed anddissolved.” With the rich clinical experience, Professor Zhang thought the incidences ofstranguria are closely related to the five Zang organs. So he conducts the treatment based onsyndrome differentiation of the five Zang organs and treatments of the western medicine inorder to improve the curative effect. Professor Zhang also emphasized the importance of thedisease’prevention, and pointed out that adjusting sentiment will, alternating work andrest, could prevent recrudescence of this disease.
