In shellfish breeding, selective breeding, crossbreeding, chromosome manipulation techniques and DNA markers have been applied extensively, however, multi-trait selection in shellfish, which uses best liner unbiased prediction, has just began to launch. Aiming at this condition, we constitute a genetic evaluation system in shellfish, including system of standard traits measuring, which is used for accumulating data; System of trait and genetic information database, which is used to admin and query the data; System of genetic evaluation, which calculates genetic parameters and breeding values in order to make breeding plan.We used two-dimensional image identification technology based on C# to measure the size of scallops. The process of identification included image pretreatment, critical point searching and linear measuring. Graying, binaryzation and noisered were applied in image pretreatment. After searching outline and critical point, the distances between points are calculated. The weight of scallop can be caught through serial interface of computer.We also developed an analysis and evaluation system-- Analysis and Evaluation System for Shellfish Genetic Breeding. It consists of four functional models, including the announcement of system, comprehensive query, information maintenance and online BLUP breeding. The calculations of hereditary capacity, repetitive capacity, phenotypic correlation and breeding values by this system could assist the selection of shellfishes. Users can formulate plans for breeding according to their requirements and settings of the boundaries. The software was developed using JSP and MySQL database on Linux, complying with the standard of web2.0. It is relatively convenient for scientists to accumulate all the data from different breeding farms online. The results of data simulations showed that our system had the same accuracy with the common breeding software. These Systems are applied in Zhikong scallops. The data sets included a total of 3535 scallop with phenotypic information from 33 full-sib families. The result shows that the coefficient of variation of the body weight is highest, whereas the shell width's is the lowest. The heritability of shell height, shell length and shell width is 0.14,0.15, 0.09 and 0.18. They all belong to low heritability. The phenotypic and genetic correlations between the traits are significant (P<0.01). The highest phenotypic correlations are between shell width and body weight. Besides, shell length and body weight shows the highest genetic correlations. This result indicated that shell length is the best traits to select.
