Coal is the most important energy and palys a significant role in the development of national economy and society. Jilin province locates in the middle of black soil areas in Northeast China, it's not only an important productive base of grains, but also is one of the provinces that appears an acute loss of soil erosion. The increasing in scope and strength of coal mining leads to landslide and intensified soil erosion. The acute loss of soil erosion leads to decline cultivated fields, degradation of soil, high frequency of floods, landside mudflow and even avalanch. Thus, it is of crucial importance to carry out a research on soil erosion loss and evaluation of comprehension environment in the coal mining areas in Jilin province.Based on the distribution of the coal belt and the current situation of coal mining digging, five coal mining areas in Jilin province is partitioned for soil erosion evaluation, and artificial neural nets is used to improve the precision of the prediction. Besides providing scientific basis and reference for soil erosion management and program, it's also widened regional soil erosion method at the same time. Eleven coal mining areas are partitioned based on the distribution of the coal belt and the current situation of coal mining digging in Jilin. On the basis of RUSLE, affecting factors were extracted and prediction of soil erosion was gained by using ERDAS and ArcGIS. It proves that caol mining areas locate in plain area of central Jilin where the slope here is gentle, vegetation coverage is high, and sloped crop field distribute. On the contrary, modulus of mining areas in mountain areas of western and southern Jilin is high, for the slope here is steeper, vegetation coverage is low and the influence of human activity is high. Deep ditch or channel cut by running water and intensive erosion appears.On the basis of the environment in study areas, an evaluation index system of topic coal mining areas environment was established fusing the conclusion of soil erosion loss mass, aiming at building an operational index system, and utilizing entrophy method and PCA to gain the conclusion of environmental evaluation. The result shows that conclusion of areas in central Jilin is higher than areas in the southern part and estern part. The environmental evaluation of typical coal mining ares in Jilin Province could provide evindence for risk analysis and eco-capacity of coal mining ares, and supply guidance for restoration and protection of coal mining area and the development of economy and society.
