China is one of the original of walnut cultivation,which has a long history and rich germplasm resources. Not only is the leading regional of economic development, but also occupies an important position in the international market. It is the important export products of China. As technological breakthroughs and excellent varieties, especially varieties of walnut breeding and promotion, the level of walnut industry has increased year by year. But relative to other fruit trees, the high content of walnut grafting techniques, technology to poplic is difficulty, leading to high cost for grafted walnut seeding and in short supply. Therefore, this article study on the seedling progenies of progeny walnut, part of the genetic variation of phenotypic traits was investigated. The main result showed:1. The variation coefficient (CV) of height, crown diameter, truck girth,nut shell thickness, fruit branch diameter and fruit branch length were more than 15% in the two populations of Jingning and Taian, showed more genetic diversity. Among them, the variation coefficient of branch length were hightest, 26.41% and 24.52%; the variation coefficient of the thickness of branch was the least, only10.34% and 6.47% respectively. The variation coefficient of the two areas from small to large, height, crown diameter, truck girth; so was Taian.2. As investigated, the shape of the fruits were mainly rotundity and long rotundity, the colour of the fruits were brown, light brown and light yellow. The variation coefficients of vertical length, transverse length, shape index were less than 12%, but the fresh fruit and nut friutmass, nut shell thickness and output rate were more than 15%, and the shell thickness was the highest(30.73%). Comparison of the two areas, the variation coefficients of free fruit weight, nuts weight and shell thickness, nuts fruit weight and shell thickness of Jining were higher than Taian's; but the variation coefficients produce of the free fruit weight is less than Taian's. The variation coefficient of fruit triats were different in two areas, but more similar, basically the same variation trend.3. The variation coefficients of fatty, protein and fatty acid were less than 10%, especially the variation coefficient of fatty acid were 0.55% and 0.31%, respectively in the two populations. Fatty acids contained 14 kinds, mainly palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid. Their relative content were more than 90%, the highest content was linoleic acid. Composition of fatty acid was saturated fatty acids and unsaturated fatty acids. Unsaturated fatty acids were more than 80%, with high nutritional value.4. Isolation results showed that precocious walnut had some apomixis abilities. The highest apomixis percentage was 13.2%.5. As the result, four elite seedings were selected, namely high and stable yield type, large fruit type, shell thin type and dwarf type.6. Using the seedling offspring of precocious walnut to build orchard in China still has some room, but the prerequisite is to ensure seed purity. Therefore, the proposal to seedling walnut, first selectiond and transformation in existing seedling walnut orchard; second, control the types of sources, to ensure the genetic quality of seeds in future.
