Climate warning ranks the top of ten ecological problems that human beings have to face. The over-emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other heat-trapping gases is at the root of the greenhouse effect. Therefore, it has been becoming a focus that how to control the release of the carbon dioxide and decrease the density of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Obviously, forests play an important role of absorbing and fixing carbon dioxide. The original intention of the research is just to evaluate the role of the forests. Research of carbon storage of regional forest vegetation is a foundational work to understand the carbon storage at global level. The carbon storage and density of conifer forest ecosystem in Hunan Province were estimated based on the data from the fourth forest resource inventory and the measured biomass equation of different forest categories, probing the method of the evaluation of the forest carbon storage.The different organ average carbon concentration of four main conifer forests in Hunan (Chinese fir, Masson pine, Slash pine and Cypress) in research respectively were:53.63% for stem,51.45% for skin,51.22% for branch,52.13% for leaves,51.38% for root;the average carbon content of the main forest types respectively were: Chinese fir is 50.26%, Masson pine is 55.05%, Slash pine is 51.59%, and Cypress is 50.14%.The average carbon content of the four conifer forest types is 51.76%, the inner-specific significant difference carbon content of organ was 2.18%-11.29%, the interspecific significant difference carbon content of organ was 4.63-12.1%.The average carbon density of the four forest types respectively were:Chinese fir is 24.5885 t/hm2, Masson pine is 18.1697 t/hm2, Slash pine is 13.4689 t/hm2, and Cypress is 14.1975 t/hm2.The carbon density decreasing from the top to the bottom in following order:Chinese fir>Masson pine>Cypress>Slash pine.The total stratum carbon storage of the conifer forest plant is 119.2181×103tCThe average carbon content of soil displayed as:Chinese fir (121.2619 t·hm-2) >Masson pine(117.1558t·hm-2)>Slash pine (110.0119 t·hm-2)>Cypress (101.8398 t·hm-2), the carbon content in soil layer (0~15cm) of every conifer forest is the highest, which drops along with the depth of soil increase, and the differentiation of the soil organic carbon content gradually reduced. The carbon content of different forest types decreasing from the top to the bottom in following order:Masson pine> Chinese fir>Slash pine> Cypress. The total soil carbon storage of the conifer forest plant is 673.5045×105tC.The total carbon storage of main conifer forest ecosystems which in Hunan is 792.7226×103tC, the soil carbon storage accounts for 84.96%, while the plants only accounts for 15.04%.The total carbon storage of main conifer forest ecosystems which in Hunan(including stratum layer and soil layer) is Chinese fir is 407.1355×103tC, Masson pine is 330.1351×103tC, Slash pine is 39.9645×103tC, and Cypress is 15.4876×103tC.The carbon storage of the main ecosystems decreasing from the top to the bottom in following order:Chinese fir>Masson pine>Slash pine> Cypress.This research chose the method of Forestation cost, Swedish Carbon tax and Carbon-sink value of CDM to estimate the value of the conifer forest ecosystems.If according to the estimate method of Forestation cost, get the total economic value is 216.13584 billion Yuan;If estimating by the Swedish carbon tax, then is 803.82082 billion Yuan; If estimating by the Carbon-sink value of CDM, then is 78.77444 billion Yuan.By weighting the Forestation cost, the Sweden carbon tax and Carbon-sink value of CDM to average collects, estimates the total economic value on carbon storage the function of the main conifer forest ecosystems in Hunan is 366.24370 billion Yuan, and the economic valuation of fixing CO2 is amounts to 1344.11438 billion Yuan. The main forest plants average carbon economic value is 55.07959 billion Yuan;the soil average carbon economic value is 311.16402 billion Yuan.The total economic value on carbon storage the function of the main conifer forest ecosystems respectively as follow:Chinese fir is 188.09959 billion Yuan, Masson pine is 152.52484 billion Yuan, Slash pine is 18.46389 billion Yuan, Cypress is 7.15538 billion Yuan.
