Application And Evaluation Of Native Trees In Changsha Urban Green Space

Native plants are the basis of urban landscaping, while native trees are the framework greening material. Some native trees with deep cultural connotation are acknowledged and liked by people for its long application history in garden landscaping since ancient time. Native trees also have many superior characteristics or unique advantage in landscaping application that other green materials in no way comparable such as strong eco-adaptability, obvious regional identity, facilitate to cultivate and manage, high cost-effective, etc. Popularize native trees and improve species diversity are of great significance to construct a garden city with personality and civilization in which people should in harmony with nature. At present, there are still many problems in practical application of native trees, either species richness or the scientific and artistry of planting design has upside room. This study main focus on how to promote native trees species diversity and carry out rational tree species planning.The studying object of this paper is the native trees in the region of Changsha. It extends the category of the local trees, which defined by this paper not only include those original trees living in the local area, but also those foreign trees that are highly adapt to the local environment after being long-term planted, domestication and propagation Some of these trees have had some culture connotation or been the local characteristics seeing from the zone of the garden plants, classifying local trees according to the area dominated by city are most specific, meaningful for guidance and valuable for application.133 representative green units including streets in urban district of Changsha were selected as survey object,182 woody plant species belongs to 55 families were investigated and recoded. Analysis the greening trees status of Changsha rest on statistical findings, meanwhile, combined with supplement summarized from relevant research and information, sort all the native species into 3 lists:widespread used 97 species; general or less application 103 species; visionary 94 species. Learn from Delphi method, determined the index weight, then assessed and classified the native species into 5 grades by the initial established-green trees comprehensive evaluation index system of Changsha city,33 species belongs to gradeâ… ; gradeâ…¡76 species; gradesâ…¢89 species; grade IV 67 species; grade V 29 species. Acquire the garden function, ecological characteristics and habits, styles of configuration of each species through searching literature, combined with evaluation result, make further green trees planning proposals for native species, provide the basis for the promotion of diversity of native species and scientific rationality of plant configuration in Changsha city.
