The selection and planning of tree species is the foundation and perspectiveness of theconstruction of urban greening. In this study, it comprehensively analysed and evaluated thetree species of urban greening in Jishou City, and pointed out the shortcomings anddevelopment strategies through after field suvey and looking up the relevant materials.Furthermore, it gave a master plan for the selection and application of the tree species in urbangreening. The main results was as follows:(1) Survey results: There are two kinds of tree species including non-production of thegreen tree species and production of green tree species. Among the non-production of the greentree species, there were89species of arbors,58species of shrubs and7species of canes, andthe proportion of these was1:0.65:0.08; There were113species of evergreen tree and63species of deciduous tree, and the proportion of these trees was1.79:1; There were86speciesof native tree and71species of extra tree, and the proportion was:1.2:1; There were56speciesof flower tree,31species of fruit species, and22species of colors species. Among theproduction of green tree species, there were22species of arbors,21species of shrubs and3species of canes, and the proportion of these was1:0.96:0.14; There were38species ofevergreen tree and9species of deciduous tree, and the proportion of these trees was4.2:1;There were23species of native tree and24species of extra tree, and the proportion was:0.96:1; There were13species of flower tree,6species of fruit species, and2species of colorsspecies.(2) Problesms: In the non-production of the green tree species, the number of tree speciesin non-production is small, and the species lack the diversity; The number of the native treespecies is too low to reflect the local characteristics; There is short of flower and fruit species.And the number of the cane is too small to lack the three-dimensional green. In the productionof green tree species, the plantation area is too small, and there is short of tree species, exoticspecies and the domestication and cultivation of native wild species. (3) Solutions:①Planning the tree species in urban greening;②Strengthening theintroduction and domestication of the greening tree species.③Improvement the configurationlevel of the tree species.④Strengthening the conservation management of the green species.(4) The Results of planning: It proposed firstly the planning principles of trees species inurban green system in Jishou Gity and their proportion. Among them, the proportion ofevergreen species and deciduous tree species is1:1; The proportion of arbor, shrubs and canesis6:4:1; The proportion of fast-growing species, medium-growing species and slow-growingspecies is1:2:2; The proportion of native tree species and exotic species is2: l; The proportionof woody plants and herbaceous plants is1:1.2kinds of keynote species,12kinds of backbonespecies,205kinds of general species, and16kinds of native wild ornamental specie which isappropriate to widely use were screened according to the planning principles.
