Liao Yu 20 and Liao Yu 18 were used as experimental material in this research. Quality of maize seeds with different genes and from different ecological zone are investigated by contrasting physical quality and sowing quality of cross-breed seed; not only the effect to quality of the same cross-breed maize seeds by ecological factors is discussed, but also quality of cross-breed seed with different gene from the same ecological zone is compared with each other. Therefore main ecological factors which have impact on quality of maize can be found out; as a result theory base of choosing breed base to produce maize and production of maize is developed. Main research results are as follows:Trends of weight per hundred kernels and seed volume of Liao Yu 20 and Liao YU18 from different ecological zones are consistent, all are Xin Jiang's >Shan Dong's>Shan Xi's; however, trends of unit weight of different variety from different ecological zones are different. For unit weight of seed of Liao Yu 20, order is Yi Ning of Xin Jiang > Yu Ci of Shan Xi > Liao Cheng of Shan Dong; whist order of Liao Yu 18 demonstrates in order of Liao Cheng of Shan Dong > Yi Ning of Xin Jiang > Yu Ci of Shan Xi. Embryo ratios of Liao Yu 20 are Yu Ci of Shan Xi > Liao Cheng of Shan Dong > Yi Ning of Xin Jiang; embryo ratios of Liao Yu 18 from three different zones are similar.Germination rate, germination potential and vigor index (I) of seed of Liao Yu20 all show Yu Ci of Shan Xi > Yi Ning of Xin Jiang > Liao Cheng of Shandong, vigor index (II) of seed from Yi Ning of Xin Jiang is the biggest, the rest two from Yu Ci of Shan Xi and Liaocheng of Shan Dong are similar. Germination rate, germination potential index (I), vigor index (II) all show Yi Ning of Xin Jiang > Yu Ci of Shan Xi > Liaocheng of Shan Dong; germination index of these two varieties is not significantly different.Result of correlation analysis shows there is significant correlation between sunshine duration, precipitation, effective accumulated temperature and many indexes of physical quality of Liao Yu 20. There is significant correlation between sunshine duration and effective accumulated temperature and many indexes of physical quality of Liao Yu 18. Key ecological factors which effect physical quality of maize seed are sunshine duration and effective accumulated temperature.This experiment shows that effective accumulated temperature is more important ecological factors than other factors to affect sowing quality of maize seed; other ecological factors affect sowing quality of maize seed by affecting vigor index (II); there is different effect by ecological factors amongst different varieties.Result show that, there is no positive correlation relationship between them.In summary, overall quality of both Liao Yu 18 and Liao Yu 20 from Yi Ning of Xin Jiang is better than from other two seed- breed bases, Yi Ning of Xin Jiang is the best base to produce cross-breed seed when we produce these two variety cross-breed seed.
