The forest ecosystem of Beijing is an important social and economic component. It is an important ecological barrier of the capital. Forest quality directly affects the stability of the ecosystem in Beijing. Timely and rapid to know mountain forest landscape, it is very important to maintaining the stability of ecological environment in Beijing mountain system. But the quality of existing forest resources is not high. It is need to strengthen the cultivation and management, especially ecologically fragile mountain forest regeneration.In support of remote sensing and GIS techniques this study set west of Beijing as the research area. By 1991,1999 and 2007 Landsat TM remote sensing images, use landscape ecology principles and methods for image interpretation, landscape classification and calculation of landscape indices. Using several major landscape pattern index, research the landscape pattern and the changes of landscape pattern in this nearly 16 years. This is on the different level of the landscape mountain forest in the west of Beijing. Analyzes the composition of mountain and forest landscape spatial pattern of variability in west Beijing on the landscape general features, landscape structure and landscape heterogeneity. To provide a scientific basis for the mechanism of the capital management practices of forest management, landscape pattern optimization and analysis of ecological ecologically fragile mountain forest regeneration Beijing. The results show that the study period forest is always in the study area of the landscape system. Landscape changes in the structure significantly. landscape area of dynamic analysis show that woodland in 1991 and 1999 shrubs a significant advantage. In 2007, open forest land area is dominated. Fragmentation of woodland is increasing.1991 to 2007, forest patch shape index of the landscape elements decreased in addition to the woodland. Fragmentation first increased and then decreased, but the degree of landscape fragmentation in the whole dynamic changes. On landscape heterogeneity, patch cohesion index is higher in west Beijing Mountains. Landscape diversity index decreased. Landscape structure have poor maintenance of the diversity. Landscape type space transformation into turn out to various types of changes in the number of dynamic process, shrub land the succession to open woodland is obvious.
