Plant management is an important part of the management projects of urban forest park. The development of plant management in park has been from the original ways, which is ongoing maintenance work after planting, to a new stage of the relationship between plant management and public researching, and informatization plant management. Beijing Olympic Forest Park is a wide geographical area with huge plant resources. The contents of its plant management and maintenance are very complex. Besides the maintenance of plants by the park managers, how to find more efficient ways to achieve the rationalization of plant management is a subject worthy of study. This paper aims at finding the tourists'behavior impact on the plant management in Beijing Olympic Forest Park, and through the survey of plants in the major areas of the park, to explore the building approach of plant information system. After the development of the plant management of urban parks, the relationship between plant management and public, and the management information systems were analyzed in detail, the importance of understanding tourists'information and establishing GIS-based plant information system has been proposed. By survey methods, tourists'preference on plant landscape, tourists'behavior impact on the plant, and tourists'view on the plant management were found. Through the data collection and field investigation, the digital data of building plant information system were obtained. Based on the GIS technology, the system serviced for scientists and managers were built. Moreover, the activity ranges of tourists were studied by a combine way of survey and GIS, and the management intensity in vegetation area was explored.Based on the research, conclusions were presented as following:(1) tourists'favorites were beautiful flowers, stratified mixed communities, semi-closed plant space and wood with streams, and tourists with different gender and age had some difference in the evaluation of plant landscape; (2) the "cut corners", illegal entry, picking flower or fruit, throwing garbage were the phenomenon that sometimes occurring, and most visitors held very much agree attitude on the measures to improve the plant management; (3) there are intensive tourist activities flow in the waterfront plant landscape and the entrance area, and the plant management strength should be strengthened; (4) combined with the existing digital information resources, through field measurements, field screening, information inputting, graphics digitizing, the GIS-based plant information system can be created and put into application. It provides a new way of study plant management through the tourists'view. The GIS-based plant information system not only conforms to the development of disciplines and the requirements of information technology, but also explores a new direction in the cross-discipline, and establishes foundation for future research and management.
