In order to resolve the conflict of the serious water shortages with large amounts of water consuming in Landscape green land in Beijing and achieve the sustainable development of the healthy landscaping, it is very meaningful to screen drought-tolerant ornamental plants immediately. Clematis fruticosa Turcz and Clematis tomentella are high ornamental value upright shrubs, with long florescence and strong deversity-resistant. Both of them can be used as flower fence, fruit hedge plants. As to little things were reported about development and utilization of the 2 species of Clematis resources in civil and abroad,The investigation of the original habitat of 2 species of Clematis and introduction of them in Beijing area were carried out. The phenology, growth performance were observed and recorded. The physiological and biochemical under the drought stress, high-temperature stress, low-temperature stress were analysed. The cryopreservation of seeds from those 2 species of Clematis were studied. The main results are as follows:1. In Beijing, the C. fruticosa Turcz. sprouted at the end of March to early April, and the flowering in mid-August. While in mid-late November, they would come into the dormancy. Without special conservation and management, C. fruticosa could normally growth and flowering in Beijing, but C. tomentella show a poor growth. C. tomentella could be easily burned under high temperature, humidity and glare, and did not flowered and fruited.2. The opportune germination temperature is 20℃for C. fruticosa Turcz and C. tomentella with germination rate 86.7% and 89.3% separately. Light had little effects on seed germination level, but the germinating energy was significantly decreased. The dark is helpful for the seed germination of those 2 wild species of the Clematis.3. Drought stress and High-temperature stress experiment were carried out with seedlings. The physiological and biochemical indicators were measured and analyzed. It could be found that the annual C. tomentella seedlings had a better resistance to drought and high-temperature than C. fruticosa.4. During the natural overwintering, the physiological, biochemical indexes and the buds development branches after different artificial low-temperature treatment indicated that the order of their cold resistance was C. tomentella> C. fruticosa Turcz> C. patens'Jan Pawell'.5. After stored in liquid nitrogen, the seeds from 2 species of Clematis had very high germination rate. However, the C. fruticosa Turcz. and C. tomentella seeds germination showed significantly difference under different thawing methods. The germination of C. fruticosa Turcz seeds thawed with running water at 18℃was 93.3%, high than 78.7% at 40℃, but there was no significant difference when thawed at 20℃room temperature 90.7%. While the germination of C.tomentella seeds had no significant differences with 74.7%,66.7%,72.0% separately. After cryopreservation, the seedlings of C.fruticosa Turcz could not get flower, and plant height, diameter were lower than that from the contrast, so whether is the cryopreservation a good way to preserve seeds still need to be tested.
