Forest biodiversity is an important part of ecological environment which is vital to human survival and sustainable development of economy and society. It is the precious wealth of human and plays an important role in the maintenance of ecological balance. However, because of the increase of population and its activities, forest biodiversity are destroyed at an unprecedented rate, which seriously affected the overall function of forest biodiversity. In order to deepen the understanding of forest biodiversity and its conservation, this paper focuses on measuring the change and evaluation of forest biodiversity.Collecting data of dominant tree species area from forest investigation and taking the methods of Simpson index and Shannon-Wiener index, we concluded that forest biodiversity in Beijing from 1973 to 2003 was increasing (the result of biodiversity index in the third forest investigation was decreased). What's more, with the methods of value-inserting and time series, we forecasted the area of dominant tree species in Beijing from 2004 to 2008. The result showed the forest biodiversity was increasing from 2004 to 2008. We also did regression analysis between forestry output and the change of forest biodiversity. With the specifications for assessment of forest ecosystem services in China and the method of Opportunity cost, we calculated the evaluation of Beijing forest biodiversity in 2008 was 2.864 billion. We should reasonably develop and utilize forest resources, protect natural forest, improve the legal system and raise awareness of the protection in order to promote the sustainable development of forest biodiversity conservation.
