Harvest Time Of Scutellaria Baicalensis Georgi Seed And S. Baicalensis Medicinal Materials

Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi is a kind of perennial herbaceous plant in the labiatae family, and its root was used as Chinese Traditional Medieine (CTM) traditionally. It has the function of heat-clearing, miscarriage prevention and clears away heat dry dampness. The research of modern CTM suggested that S. baicalensis contains flavonoids including baicalin, baicalein, wogonside and wogonin, which has many effects such as anti-inflammation, pain relief, antallergic, enhancementof the immune system, liver protection, anti-oxidization, resistance to free-radical injury, regulation over the nervous system and anti-tumor. Now, the wild resource of S. baicalensis can't meet the actual market demand with the developing modernization of CTM, the demand was unceasingly increased while the wild resource was reduced. The cultivation of S. baicalensis is the main source at home.We observed saturation process of seeds after flowering and compared with germinating capacity, germination energy and vitality of the collected seeds. The results showed that the germination percentage of the seed collected at 24th day after flowering was 82%, the 1000-seedweight was 1.9g and the vigor index was 103.95, which all are in accord with production requirements. The 1000-seedweight and vitality index of seed were reached the maximum after flowering, 1.98g and 149.88 respectively. Seed shedding obviously at 33day after flowering. Study on flowering of S. showed that the flower number was reached the maximum 271 on July 27th. The best harvest time of seed was 24-30 day after florescence; the collecting quantity could be to 49.47% of total on the 30th after the flower number reaching the maximum.Determination of different activated pharmaceutical ingredients content in S. baicalensis underground part showed that the content of baicalin is the maximum, and then Wogonside, and then Baicalein.The change of baicalin, wogonside and baicalein content in root of four-year, three-year and two-year S. baicalensis showed that the change of the three is not noticeable, and also the change of quality of S. baicalensis underground part. Considering all sorts of change of S. baicalensis underground part, it is suitable to be collected at the beginning of the three-year or the end of two-year.Determination of different activated pharmaceutical ingredients content in S baicalensis. aboveground part showed that the content of scutellarin is more than baicalin. Considering comprehensively, the best time to be harvested for the S. baicalensis aboveground is the early July, when the quantity of the main ingredients of wild Baicalin in S. baicalensis aboveground reach the maximum.
