Chinese herbal medicine and extracts were extensively used as feed additive in the livestock and poultry breeding production. Because of the natural, multifunctionality, two-ways regulation and non-resistance of Chinese herbal medicine , it is the best additives to substitute antibiotics and drugs of chemical synthesis. The study investigated the effects of CHPS and R.C. total flavonoids on immune function in mice and performance in broilers, to improve performance and control disease for the development of livestock and poultry production. The results were as follows:1.Compared with control group, clearance of carbon particle capacity were significantly increased in mice at CHPS middle dosage group (200mg/kg), R.C. total flavonoids middle dosage group (200mg/kg) and high dosage group (400mg/kg); CHPS high dosage group (400mg/kg) and R.C. total flavonoids high dosage group (400mg/kg) could significantly intensify degrees of oncotic caused by DNFB; R.C. total flavonoids high dosage group (400mg/kg) could significantly increased production of serum hemolysins; the index of spleen and thymus were significantly increased at CHPS high dosage group (400mg/kg), as RC total flavonoids low dosage group (100mg/kg) and middle dosage group (200mg/kg).2. From the entire breeding cycle, compared with control group, CHPS high dosage group (200mg/kg) and R.C. total flavonoids middle dosage group (50mg/kg) could significantly increased average daily gain; CHPS low dosage group (50mg/kg) and middle dosage group (100mg/kg), R.C. total flavonoids low dosage group (25mg/kg) could significantly increased protein content in broiler muscle; R.C. total flavonoids middle dosage group (50mg/kg) could significantly decreased drip loss of broiler; the percentage of abdominal fat of different dosage groups of CHPS were significantly decreased; the spleen index of broilers of CHPS high dosage group (200mg/kg) were significantly increased. The organ index were increased with raising of the RC total flavonoids's concentration, but were not significant difference.3. Compared with control group, R.C. total flavonoids middle dosage group (50mg/kg) significantly decreased the MDA content in heart and liver; different dosage groups of R.C. total flavonoids could increased significantly SOD activity; kidney GSH-Px activity of CHPS high dosage group (200mg/kg) were significantly increased, liver GSH-Px activity of RC total flavonoids low dosage group (25mg/kg) were significantly increased.4. Two kinds of Chinese herbal medicine could prevent broilers diseases, mortality of each experimental group remained at between 4.17% to 8.33%, it is well below the nursery (29.47%) and the control group (16.67%). Significantly reduced the incidence of the disease, preventing the situation continues to infect other broilers.Conclusions:1. All results indicated that CHPS and R.C. total flavonoids in some scope of concentrations could strengthen the mice non-specificity immunity, the cellular immunity and the humoral immunity function, improve mouse immune organ's growth.2. Both kinds of herbal extracts in some scope of concentrations can promote growth and immune organ of broilers, accelerated muscle protein synthesis, enhanced the taste of broilers, thus enhancing the quality of the meat.3. Both kinds of herbal extracts could improve antioxidant capacity of broilers, prevent disease of broilers.
