The conservation tillage as a new type method of tilling started in the 1960s. The mechanical conservation tillage, which is newer than traditional tillage and exposing land. The purpose is not only to make full use of the limited resources of land but, as the same time, protect the land and stop it from desert. According to the research, the mechanical conservation tillage must be used differently in different places, soils and weathers.In some developed countries this technology has been made use of in a large scale. Because The mechanical conservation tillage started quite late in our country, so far, the theory of this technology, which will be fit for the dry land in North China, is just under way. Moreover the popularization is mainly in the Northwest. In the South, only the study in some paddy field has been reported, Yunnan Province, which is close up and behind the science and technology, has nothing in the field.This essay is a study of the mechanical conservation tillage in the red soil of the mountain shapes, It has a typical subtropical weather and the main land is on the mountain shapes in Yunnan Province,(1) Subtropical weather in Yunnan Province and an analysis of why the fertility of soil is reducing so that we can use various way of tillage and do some to protect the water in different depth of loose soil and the run off on the surface of the earth.(2) The analysis of the testing that measured the rule of the stream flow on the soil in the different of the cultivate routes and by the differ means that deep cultivated and loosed the soil.(3) The analysis of the testing that kept water in the soil after digging the small channels ploughed which are on the same height.(4) The analysis of the testing that tested water stored in the soil under the condition of the different modes that covered by straw.(5) The analysis of the testing that contrasted the adaptability of the different machines which is used for farming.(6) The analysis of the testing that contrasted the outputs of the crops produced by the means of tradition tillage and conservation tillage.This study is a mechanical conservation tillage system fit for the tilling in the soil, improving the fertility of soil, preventing the runoff from being washed away, reducing the and increasing the economic benefits in Yunnan in order to protect the cultivated land, the ecological balance ,in order to reach and realize agricultural sustainable development.
