In order to learn the formative mechanism of quality of different type corn (high oil corn and normal corn) grain and their regulations, field culture and pot culture were carried out in the farm of henan Agriculture University from 2004 to 2005.The results were as follows:1 The physiological characteristic is markedly different between high-oil corn and normal corn (Xundan20). The content of leaves chlorophyll and Photosynthetic Rate of high-oil corn is lower than Xundan20 during the Late Growth Stage. But the dry matter mass of high-oil corn is bigger than normal corn, the leaf area and leaf area index of high oil corn were bigger, While the leaf area senescenced slowly during the period from silking to ripeness, so the photosynthesis potential was bigger. The activity of nitrate reductase(NRase) , and glutamine synthetase (GS) ,in the leaves and grain of corn were close related to protein synthesis in kernel. The activity of invertase in the grain of corn were close related to starch synthesis in kerne 1. The activity of phosphatidate phosphatase in the grain of corn were close related to oil synthesis in kernel. the activity of NRase, GS in leaves and GS, phosphatidate phosphatase in grain of two cultivars took on a same tendency, The activity of NRase, and invertase decreased all the time from prophase of grain filling stage to mature stage, while the activity of GS phosphatidate phosphatase took on a singlet curves, with the peak appearing between 20 days and 30 days after pollination. Comparing with HE-2, The activity of invertase in leaves of Xundan20 was higher, while the activity of NRase, GS in leaves and phosphatidate phosphatase in grain was significant lower. This could results in a lower protein content and oil content in grain of xundan20 comparing with HE-2.The times of the appearance of the peak values of the accumulation of starch, protein and oil were significantly different between high-oil corn and xundan20.The kernel of high-oil corn had higher oil content, protein content and lower starch content than those of normal corn which was just the opposite. The fat content in leaf and stem of two types of corn were tended to decrease during grain filling, and that in grain of two corn was changed differently.3 The experiment studied the growing and developing and the seed quality variation of high oil corn in different ecological condition in henan. There was different protein and fat content in different ecogeographic enviroments. Protein content was highest (11.50 % ,10.65 %) in ruzhou and xunxian of HenanProvince and fat content was highest (9.48 %, 9.32%) in xunxian and yongcheng...
