Combine is a large and complex agricultural machine. With the development of combine to high-efficiency, large-scale, high-power and wide-breadth, the question about the header vibration and the ride comfort is more important. In the past time, the inertia force of the cutter driving system was only considered while researching combine vibration. In fact, the excitation resulting in cutter vibration come from different ways. In this paper, three excitations such as the inertia force of the cutter driving system, the inertia force of the engine and the random excitation of the pavement surface are considered at the same time. The theory analysis and experiment test are utilized to research the vibration characteristic of prototype. The paper is consisted of five parts as follows:In the part 1,the research situation and the vibration development history for combine is reviewed. The necessity of the combine vibration analysis is pointed out.In the part 2, the Xinjiang-2A combine is selected as prototype, according to dynamic analysis of it, the mechanical model and coupled vibration equations of vibration system for self-walked combine harvester were established. The matrix equations in four different conditions were calculated. The four different conditions were the motor rotation at quiet and empty carry, the motor and cutter move together at quiet and empty carry, transportation course and harvest course. In the part 3, the experimental research on header vibration for the prototype.Under the different working condition and different motor's velocity, the DH5922 dynamic signal test system is utilized to test horizontal and vertical vibration acceleration on the header's different position. According to analysis of vibration resource and comparing of vibration parameters, the vibration value resulting from three excitations respectively are calculated. In the part 4, research on ride comfort. Under the different working conditions, the vertical vibration acceleration on the drive's seat is tested. The 1/3 octave bands is exploited to estimate the ride comfort of the combine. In the part 5, some main conclusions are given and future research work is also discussed.
