Aiming at present conditions and characteristics of soil and water loss of Xinbin, Huanren and Kuandian County in the Eastern Liaoning Mountain Regions, instructing principles and methods of ecological self-rehabilitation were confirmed, providing the rehabilitation strategy of degradation of agro-system. Applying the principles and methods of ecology, pedology, botany and water and soil conservation and adopting the method of combination of field survey and analysis of interior area, the rehabilitation effects of different time stages and relation between vegetation and soil during the rehabilitation course of Larch plantation, Korean pine plantation, natural oak forest, cultivated land, derelict field and Silkworm rearing yard were measured to try to provide scientific basis for self-rehabilitation in the Eastern Liaoning Mountain Region. The results showed as follows:1. It was thought that exclusion was an effective method of ecological rehabilitation. The ecological environment improved significantly under different methods. In manual larch forest, with extending time of restoring and the age increament of these trees, increasing trend of the content of conglomeration in the field of forest and capacity of languish accumulation and holding water appeared. In manual red pine tree forest, with extending time of restoring, the organism in the soil increases and capacity of languish accumulation and holding water rises. Self-restraint of water and natural environment maintaining function are improved. During the restoring period of savage oak forest, diversity of foliage, uniformity of community and under-forest vegetation increased. The content of conglomeration and organism in the soil is raised with the prolonging of restoring time and the total capacity of languish accumulation and holding water increase. After 15a restoring of three kinds of severe degenerated silkworm field, capacity of under-forest vegetation and density got close to the first-class of silkworm field.2. Under the same time of rehabilitation, different methods of land utilization had different effect. After 15a restoring, the effect of derelict field was the best. The under-forest biomass and species diversity of manual larch forest were lower than the ones of silkworm field.
