Three crossbred wethers fitted with permanent rumen fistula were chosen to measure the influence of complete pelleted diets supplemented with different level of YC on digestion and metabolism and ruminal fermentation in sheep.Roughage/concentrate ratio of basal diet(BD) is 67:31. Treatments(BD+0%YC,BD+1.5%YC and BD+3%YC) in the trail were designed as a 3 X 3 latin square with 3 periods of 16-day of each period in the trail. The results are as follows:(1) A trend towards higher intake of DM and OM (P=0.225 and P=0.324) in complete pelleted diets supplemented with 1.5% or 3%YC was obversed; There was no significant effects on intake of CF,NDF and ADF(P>0.05).(2) A higher trend on digestibilitiy of DM, OM, CF, NDF and ADF was observed(P=0.277 , P=0.151,P=0.073,P=0.102and P=0.091,respectively) when feeding diets supplemented with YC.(3) There were no significant difference on apparent nitrogen digestibility(P>0.05),but significant effect on nitrogen retention(P=0.022) when diets with YC were fed to sheep. (4)There were no significant difference on pH value, concentration of total nitrogen, ammonic nitrogen, urea nitrogen and protein nitrogen in rumen fluid of sheep among the treatments (P>0.05).(5) A trend towards higher on TVFA concentration in rumen fluid was observed when YC was added to BD, but significant effect only at 2h after feeding.(6) A trend better effect on improvement palatability and digestibility of the diets supplemented YC to feed sheep was noticed(7) There were no significant differences on all parameters determined between two level of supplementing YC.Adding 1.5%YC is superiority to 3%YC in the trail, taking into account the effects of feeding and cost.
