The experiment was in search of the apomixis approach and other developmental ways of Porphyra, and to consummate its life history. So as to innovate and improve on idioplasmatic conservation and seedling culture technics.Subarea culture of the Porphyra basing on the characteristic of thalli. I have used solid-liquid alternated method to cultivate different stages of Porphyra life history, from single cells to thalli and conchocelis. Observed the cellular developmental methods and got the photos of them. Pick up special growers and apomixis conchocelis depending on microoperation. Finally I got plentiful callus-like tissue and bulgy cells as preferable materials for Porphyra research during the culture of P. yezoensis, P. haitanensis and P. katadai var. hemiphylla. In fact, I have obtained conchocelis developed from sperms of P. katadai var. hemiphylla. It was found that sex-differentiation was largely occurred during the culture of foliar cells of P. yezoensis.Development approaches of Porphyra are diversified under laboratory conditions. Different procreating patterns determine different developmental methods, while several growth approaches come from one procreating pattern. Separate the male and female cells of P. katadai and culture separately according to the characteristic of the thalli. The results confirmed we that apomixis existed in Porphyra indeed. Meanwhile the foliar cells of P. yezoensis developed with sex-differentiation mechanism.
