The research project consisted of three experiments to study the optimal requirement levels of protein, fat, calcium , phosphorous and optimal animal-plant protein ratio in feed for barbell chub, thus providing the basic data for its feed formulation. The first experiment was conducted to study the effect of dietary protein and fat level on the growth performance and muscle composition of barbell chub fingerlings. In a 3×3 factorial design, three protein levels (31%, 37% and 43%) and three fat levels (3.5%, 5.5% and 7.5%) were tested in the experiment. Nine trial feeds were formulated and manufactured with main ingredients of imported white fish meal, soybean meal, wheat middings, wheat bran etc. The trial fishes with an initial body weight of 5.49 g were stocked into 18 tanks (400×98×90 cm) with a stocking density of 45 fish/tank. Each group had two tanks and the experiment lasted 6 weeks. With the specified growth rate, FCR, protein efficiency as the evaluation standard, the experimental results showed that the interaction of protein and fat in feed had significant effect on the growth rate of...
